Columbia County, New York is crossed by some major roads that have a huge police presence on them.

I-90 is a major artery connecting Boston with the West. The Taconic Parkway connects Westchester County, New York City, and points south and west with Columbia County and the Berkshires. Route 22 provides access to ski areas from the South.

There is an enormous flow of weekend traffic through rural areas and small towns. Significantly, fines collected from speeding and other traffic tickets are a major income to the towns along these roads. Speeding tickets are numerous. And the motorists who have received speeding and other tickets have become my clients.
