When I moved to Columbia County, New York, in the mid-'80s, I didn't know if there would be enough criminal defense work to sustain me. I have always loved criminal defense work, but a rural, upstate county with about 60,000 people did not initially seem to be a fertile ground for building my criminal defense practice. So much for logic.
I am probably best well known in Columbia County and the surrounding Hudson Valley counties as a criminal lawyer.
I have defended people charged with everything from shoplifting to murder. I represent people in the state courts and in the federal courts.
Read my article, The Ten Most Frequently Asked Questions About Criminal Defense. This will be very helpful if you or someone important to you has been arrested.

This includes people under investigation by various agencies, people who may be compelled to testify in a Grand Jury or some other venue, people who want to resolve criminal issues discreetly before an arrest is made. In these contexts and other pre-charge situations, discretion and speed and familiarity with local practices are all essential.
I've often said, only half jokingly, that nobody knows about my best work. That's because in this context my best work keeps things from happening.
